Multiple workers are dead after an explosion at a Tennessee munitions plant, with the cause of the explosion unknown at this time.
The blast took place on Friday at Accurate Energetic Systems, a 1,300 acre facility in Bucksnort, about an hour west of Nashville.
According to its website, Accurate Energetic Systems develops, manufactures, and stores “a diverse array of energetic products and explosives for military, aerospace, and commercial demolition markets.”
Residents over 20 miles away from the facility reported hearing the explosion.
Footage posted on social media showed widespread devastation at the plant.
“We do have several people at this time unaccounted for. We are trying to be mindful of families and that situation,” Humphreys County Sheriff Chris Davis said at a news conference.
“We do have some that are deceased.”
