Ex-President Barack Obama revealed efforts to combat what he called a “rising wave of authoritarianism sweeping the globe” by speaking with leftist leaders in Hungary and Poland about their work “confronting autocracy.”
“Like many of you, I’ve become increasingly concerned about the rising wave of authoritarianism sweeping the globe,” Obama said in a video posted to social media on Saturday.
“We’re seeing politicians target civil society, undermine freedom of the press, weaponize the justice system, and no one is being spared.”
“Even countries that thought they were immune from wholesale assaults on democracy now understand we’re all part of this struggle,” he added, going on to highlight his foundation’s discussions with leftists in Hungary and Poland, two countries that have, like the US, undergone populist transformations in recent years.
Infowars host Alex Jones took issue with Obama’s claim that he’s concerned about the dissolution of the free press, noting that Obama and authoritarian regimes in Europe are running censorship campaigns silencing the public for criticizing the transgender agenda, migrant rape gangs and other leftist causes.
