California’s Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom revealed on “CBS News Sunday Morning” that he’s considering running for president in the next election, saying he’s given the idea “serious thought.”
Asked if he’s thinking of a future presidential run, Newsom said, “Yeah. I’d be lying otherwise. I’d just be lying. And I’m not − I can’t do that.”
Newsom’s second term as California governor ends in January 2027, and he cannot run for re-election, so the next logical step is for him to put his hat in the ring and face off against other potential Democrat nominees such as ex-Vice President Kamala Harris, who said earlier this week that she could “possibly” be the first female president.
