U.S. officials have reportedly revealed that Iran is considering launching an offensive targeting American troops stationed in the Middle East sometime in the next 48 hours.
“The United States believes Iran could carry out retaliatory attacks targeting American forces in the Middle East soon, although the U.S. is still seeking a diplomatic resolution that would see Tehran forgo any attack, two U.S. officials said on Monday. One of the officials, who spoke to Reuters on condition of anonymity to discuss the assessment, said Iran’s retaliatory attack could happen within the next day or two.”
On Sunday, President Trump promoted “regime change” in Iran and said new leadership in the Middle East nation could “Make Iran Great Again.”
The statement came after Vice President J.D. Vance and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth both stated regime change WAS NOT a part of the U.S. mission in Iran.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said over the weekend that there “no planned military operations right now against Iran” unless Iran decides to attack American forces.
On Sunday, Russia Today claimed that “Iran-backed militias” are preparing attacks on U.S. military members stationed in Iraq.
Meanwhile, DHS, Border Patrol and NBC News are warning American citizens that the threat of Iranian sleeper cell terror attacks inside the U.S. are alarmingly high.
NBC News reported on Sunday that Iran told President Trump days before he decided to strike their nuclear sites that they’d “activate sleeper cell terror inside the United States” if attacked.
Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem issued a National Terrorism Advisory System (NTAS) Bulletin regarding a heightened threat environment across the United States, less than 24 hours after the U.S. struck Iranian nuclear sites.
“It is our duty to keep the nation safe and informed, especially during times of conflict,” Noem said. “The ongoing Israel-Iran conflict brings the possibility of increased threat to the homeland in the form of possible cyberattacks, acts of violence, and antisemitic hate crimes.”
Trump administration Border Czar Tom Homan also mentioned the possibility of terror attacks inside the U.S. following the strikes, telling Fox News Iranian sleeper cells illegally entered the country thanks to Joe Biden’s open border policies.
A Saturday memo from CBP Commissioner Rodney Scott also stated that “thousands of Iranian nationals have been documented entering the United States illegally and countless more were likely in the known and unknown got-a-ways.”
“Though we have not received any specific credible threats to share with you all currently, the threat of sleeper cells or sympathizers acting on their own, or at the behest of Iran has never been higher,” Scott added.
If any attacks take place inside the U.S. or abroad, the Trump administration is sure to respond in a major way.
