Zohran Mamdani, a Muslim socialist running for mayor of New York City after only being a U.S. citizen for seven years, is leading former New York Democrat Gov. Andrew Cuomo in a new poll.
Since being endorsed by fellow socialist politician Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) last week, Mamdani has quickly gained popularity among leftist voters.
The far-left NYC mayoral candidate is a former rapper who in one song expressed “love” for the Holy Land Five group that was convicted in 2008 of funneling money to the terror group Hamas.
Cuomo responded to the song’s lyrics at a recent press event, saying, “This is not a pro-Palestinian aid, this is not humanitarian. This is him saying he loves – that is his own words — he loves the Holy Land Five, who are convicted, funders of Hamas. It’s disgusting and despicable.”
Mamdani also posted a video presenting a disturbing premise where he hopes to implement communist-style supermarkets owned by New York City that don’t have to pay rent or property taxes and have no profit incentive.
Sticking to his socialist background, the hopeful NYC mayor plans on hiking taxes for wealthy New Yorkers.
In a cringe political advertisement, the candidate spoke several different languages to reach out to non-English speaking residents.
Currently serving as a Queens assemblyman, Mamdani wants to spend $65 million in tax money on transgender medical treatments for adults and minors if he becomes mayor.
It’s not clear how supporting the radical transgender movement, especially for underage citizens, will be received by Muslims considering voting for Mamdani as the religious group typically doesn’t support LGBTQ ideology.
NBC called out the phony politician for speaking in different accents depending on who he’s speaking to, similar to ex-Democrat presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris.
Mamdani’s mother directed a 2016 Disney movie called, “Queen of Katwe,” where her son worked as a music supervisor and “third assistant director” in addition to being given a small cameo in the film.
Even the communists are upset with Mamdani for cozying up to the Democrat Party, with The Revolutionary Communist Party recently stating, “Rather than building the influence of socialism, he is tainting that word through false promises and associating himself with the rotten and discredited Democratic Party.”
