American economist Lawrence “Larry” Summers announced his resignation from Harvard University on Wednesday, after recently released Epstein files showed he was close friends with the notorious pedophile sex trafficker even AFTER it was known his pal was engaging in illegal operations and involved in raping underage girls.
Summers, who was once the president of Harvard, will be stepping down from his teaching position at the end of the current school year but the university is allowing him to keep his President Emeritus title.
After serving 15 years as co-director of the Mossavar-Rahmani Center for Business and Government at the Harvard Kennedy School, Summers will also be resigning from that position.
Providing comments to the Harvard Crimson student newspaper on Wednesday, Summers said it was a “difficult” decision and that he was “grateful to the thousands of students and colleagues I have been privileged to teach and work with since coming to Harvard as a graduate student 50 years ago.”
“Free of formal responsibility, as President Emeritus and a retired professor, I look forward in time to engaging in research, analysis, and commentary on a range of global economic issues,” he added.
The economist visited Epstein’s notorious private island, took trips on his infamous jet, “The Lolita Express,” and messaged Epstein while pursuing a romantic relationship with a woman he described as a mentee in 2019.
Epstein labeled himself Summers’ “wing man” and provided tips on how to hit on the mentee.
Summers has also been an outspoken critic of President Donald Trump since he first threw his hat in the ring to run for president ahead of the 2016 election.
As several European leaders have been charged and arrested in recent weeks, American Epstein associates have largely avoided repercussions.
