An illegal alien is facing murder charges following a drunk-driving collision that killed two pedestrians in Kentucky last week, authorities say.
The horrifying tragedy unfolded on Wednesday night in Daviess County.
The Owensboro Police Department (OPD) responded to a hit-and-run incident where they located two people who had been struck by the driver of a vehicle who fled the scene but later returned and was arrested.
One of the victims, identified as 39-year-old Amanda Foster, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The other victim, identified as 53-year-old Jerry Mounce, was hospitalized in critical condition, but succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday, according to OPD.
Anderson Xol, 21, was initially charged with murder, first-degree assault, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of an accident – failure to render aid or assistance, and operating without a license.
Investigators are now seeking to upgrade the assault charge to murder in light of Mounce’s passing.
Additionally, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has lodged a detainer against Xol, a citizen of Guatemala who is in the U.S. illegally.
“On February 19, ICE lodged an arrest detainer requesting local authorities notify ICE before they release Anderson Stewart Xol-Ho, a criminal illegal alien from Guatemala. He was arrested on February 18 for murder, felony assault, hit and run, DUI, and driving without a license. Zol-Ho is currently in the custody of Daviess County Detention Center,” the Department of Homeland Security told Border Hawk.
“We need local authorities to cooperate with us and not release criminals from their jails onto our streets.”
An investigation is ongoing.
