Air Canada Flight 8646, operated by Jazz Aviation, collided with a Port Authority fire truck as it landed on Runway 4.
The plane was carrying 72 passengers and four crew member.
Forty-one passengers and crew were taken to hospital, along with the crew of the fire truck.
“At this time, we understand that 32 have been released, but there are also serious injuries,” Port Authority Executive Director Kathryn Garcia told reporters.
“Sadly, the two pilots are confirmed deceased and notifications are being made by Air Canada’s care team at this time.”
At this time, the cause of the crash remains unknown.
Authorities are investigating.
The airport is currently closed.
More than 30 million passengers travelled through LaGuardia in 2025, meaning prolonged closure could cause significant disruption to regional travel.
