Image Credit: DHS An illegal alien is accused of killing an innocent man and injuring an elderly woman in a multi-vehicle crash he caused while fleeing from police in California, authorities say.
The horrifying incident unfolded in Orange County on Jan. 21 but the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) just released immigration background on the suspect this week.
Just after 7:30 p.m. that night, officers with the Anaheim Police Department observed a Jeep Gladiator being driven recklessly and initiated a traffic stop, KTLA reports.
The driver initially complied but then took off, leading officers on a high-speed pursuit that lasted approximately three minutes.
After the driver crossed into Placentia, he reportedly collided with a Honda sedan and then slammed into a Dodge van.
The male driver of the Honda, a 59-year-old local resident, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Dodge, an 83-year-old woman, was hospitalized with minor injuries.
Darwin Felipe Bahamon Martinez, 21, was arrested and charged with felony evading causing injury or death and vehicular manslaughter.
On Wednesday, DHS revealed that Bahamon Martinez is an illegal alien from Colombia who was unleashed by the Biden regime.
“Bahamon Martinez illegally entered the U.S. near Chula Vista, California, in August 2023,” said Immigration and Customs Enforce (ICE) Los Angeles field office leadership.
“He was released into the U.S. under the Biden administration’s so-called ‘catch-and-release’ policies, but if that hadn’t happened, the innocent 59-year-old driver he allegedly killed may still be alive today.”
ICE has lodged an immigration detainer against Bahamon Martinez and is demanding officials in the sanctuary state comply with their request, otherwise officers will be forced to conduct a more dangerous at-large arrest if he is set free.
“At-large arrests are significantly more dangerous than custody transfers are because they require ICE officers to arrest unpredictable criminal illegal aliens in public settings,” ICE stated.
