Image Credit: DHS A convicted pedophile from Africa is facing a slew of new charges after he allegedly snuck into an Arizona school last week and sexually assaulted a 10-year-old girl, authorities say.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) just released the immigration background of Abel Kai Gblah, a criminal alien from Liberia who was allowed into the U.S. by the Obama administration.
On Nov. 19, Gblah entered Orangewood Elementary School in Phoenix without authorization and proceeded to lure a child into a classroom by telling her he was a doctor and needed to perform medical tests on her, KTAR reports.
The girl managed to fight back and escape after Gblah sexually assaulted her, Phoenix police said.
Gblah fled the school but was later arrested at his home and charged with sexual assault, abduction, lewd and lascivious acts with a minor, and kidnapping a minor with intent to sexually assault.
The Liberian entered the U.S. in 2011 and was granted a green card.
In 2021, Gblah was convicted on two counts of sexual conduct with a minor.
In 2022, he was convicted of smuggling aliens.
It is unclear if he served prison time in either case.
“This monster sexually assaulted a 10-year-old girl in her own elementary school. Case in point: if ICE officers were to ever go into an elementary school it would be to arrest a depraved criminal like this,” said DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin.
“The Biden administration failed this innocent little girl. The moment this criminal alien was arrested for child sex crimes in 2021, he should have become a removal priority. The Biden administration should have never allowed this dangerous creep to roam free and terrorize an innocent child.”
Immigration and Customs Enforcement has lodged a detainer for Gblah with the Maricopa County Jail and an investigation is ongoing.
