Image Credit: Anadolu / Contributor / Getty On Tuesday Ukraine’s Dictator Vladimir Zelensky said his country will provide consultation advice on opening the Strait of Hormuz. While Zelensky previously told Americans they cannot fix their roads or go on vacation due to his need for their money, the Dictator gained a new interest in economic affordability due to Iran causing the problem. Despite Zelensky’s need for American’s money, Ukraine has agreed to help feed the nation of Syria.
It is unfortunate that the UN Security Council has once again failed to demonstrate effectiveness and act decisively in the face of such a global threat as the Iranian regime’s blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
No one should be allowed to block such globally significant sea lanes or undermine the security of dozens of nations through terrorist attacks against the freedom of navigation.
We faced a similar challenge in the Black Sea when the Russians attempted to block our ports and civilian shipping—Russia was trying to suffocate our economy. And we found a way to solve that problem through decisive action, not inaction.
Now, we see a similar problem on a global scale. The Strait of Hormuz must remain open to all vessels that sustain vital economy lifelines and maintain normal international trade.
Countries in the region have spoken clearly on this, and we support the aspirations of the people of the Middle East and the Gulf for peace.
Peace and security in this region directly impact stability, market predictability, and the cost of living in every single country.
Such problems and this war must not be prolonged. The world needs a functional UNSC that acts more decisively to resolve acute security challenges of global magnitude.
“I say such [a] person from government or mayors think about the war, think about how to defend our people. Don’t travel through the world each day, travel to the front line. Us people are soldiers. What they need? Do this,” Zelensky said in 2023. “Not build roads for today, don’t do it, spend all your money to the weapons, to the drones, to the society, to the [Ukraine] pensions, and etc.”
On Tuesday Zelensky addressed the world about his involvement in the Iran war:
The coming weeks will be devoted to working with our partners in Europe – joint production, defense modernization, defense financing programs, and coordination of security efforts.
Ukrainian military personnel are participating in consultations on the functioning of the Strait of Hormuz going forward. Safe navigation is a global value – we know this from our experience of protecting maritime routes in the Black Sea.
On March 27 Zelensky announced that his government struck a defense deal with U.S. ally Saudi Arabia to bolster the fight against Iran. Importantly, Kiev is fighting Moscow which also aids Tehran which is fighting Washington which aids Kiev.
We have reached an important Arrangement between the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the Ministry of Defense of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on defense cooperation. The document was signed ahead of our meeting with the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud. It lays the foundation for future contracts, technological cooperation, and investment. It also strengthens Ukraine’s international role as a security donor.
We are ready to share our expertise and systems with Saudi Arabia and to work together to strengthen the protection of lives. Now into the fifth year, Ukrainians are resisting the same kind of terrorist attacks – ballistic missiles and drones – that the Iranian regime is currently carrying out in the Middle East and the Gulf region. Saudi Arabia also has capabilities that are of interest to Ukraine, and this cooperation can be mutually beneficial.
We also discussed the situation in the Middle East and the Gulf region as a whole, Russia’s assistance to the Iranian regime, developments in fuel markets, and potential energy cooperation.
Thank you for the meeting.
On Sunday Zelensky met with Syria’s “diversity friendly” jihadi leader, “former” Al Qaeda terrorist Abu Muhammad al-Jawlani (also spelled Abu Mohammad al-Julani). Kiev will not just be in the fight against Tehran, but feed the people of Syria, according to what the Dictator told the Jihadi:
Talks with the President of Syria, Ahmed al-Sharaa@AH_AlSharaa.
We agreed to work together to bring greater security and more opportunities for development to our societies. We discussed the situation in the region and the prospects for changing it for the better. We also went over the circumstances of Russia’s war against Ukraine – I am grateful for the support. There is strong interest in exchanging military and security experience. I appreciate the words of respect for our people.
We also touched on Ukraine’s role as a reliable supplier of food products and discussed joint opportunities to strengthen food security across the region. We understand very well the energy and infrastructure challenges Syria is currently facing. We are ready to work together to expand opportunities for both our countries and their people.
The Syrian jihadi leader is an equal-opportunity type of guy. He carries no shame from making a deal with Zelensky months after making a deal with his archenemy, Russian President Vladimir Putin.
