Image Credit: youtube screenshot Footage out of an Oklahoma courtroom captured the moment a transgender attorney had to be physically restrained and arrested following a heated argument with a female judge.
Courtroom surveillance video of the Feb. 11 incident shows civil rights attorney “Rob Hopkins” attempting to mansplain to district court Judge Lori Jackson why she’s wrong that Hopkins was trying to provide testimony on behalf of her client, Julie Ann Kramer, who didn’t show up to court.
After a heated back-and-forth, Judge Jackson orders Hopkins to stop interrupting her or risk being held in direct contempt of court, to which Hopkins nods with an amused facial expression.
“Stop, stop, stop! You interrupt me one more time and you are being held in contempt. You can wipe that smirk off your face,” the judge tells Hopkins, who fires back, “I don’t have a smirk on my face. I do not.”

Must be a liberal…after arguing with the judge IT pulls the “because I’m trans” card, then when found in contempt yelled “I can’t breathe” followed by a scream. 🤣 pic.twitter.com/NpOXE7knbr
After being told, “You interrupted again,” Hopkins tosses her phone, which falls to the ground in front of the judge’s bench.
An argument ensues over whether the phone was thrown, and the attorney tells the judge she has a problem “maybe because I’m a transgender attorney practicing all over the state.”
“I don’t know what you are,” the judge responds, adding, “I don’t know you from Adam.”
Despite the tense interaction, Hopkins is able to convince the judge to allow his client to appear telephonically, before a prosecutor objects, saying, “This is as clear as the nose on my face that this woman will not appear before this court because she has a warrant for stealing…”
At this point, Hopkins launches into an unhinged protest shouting at the judge and yelling over the prosecutor, before Judge Jackson decides she’s had enough and pauses the hearing.
As the prosecutor turns to confront Hopkins, she begins shouting to “Get out of my face.”
The opposing attorney tells her, “You should get out of this county… These people are my friends and you’re being ugly,” before walking away.
Two bailiffs next come up to Hopkins asking her to put her hands behind her back, to which she refuses – prompting the officers to physically restrain her.
Over the next three minutes an amazing courtroom spectacle unfolds: Hopkins fights off officers’ attempts to handcuff her, gets tackled to the ground, screams, “I can’t breathe,” and bizarrely requests a female officer.
“Do not hurt me, do not hurt me … Do not grab me! Do not grab me! I can’t breathe, I can’t breathe,” Hopkins screamed. “Get a female officer now! Get a female officer now!”

Hopkins was arrested and released on a $25,000 bond.
In an update, Hopkins said she would stop practicing law in light of the incident, claiming she’s afraid for her physical safety and saying she believes she has grounds for a discrimination lawsuit in the county.
