The howling mob gathered outside the Graduate Hotel on the University of Minneapolis campus in an attempt to violently intimidate officers and employees inside.
Windows were smashed, walls were vandalized with spray paint, and private property was destroyed by militants who have been impeding and harassing immigration authorities in the Twin Cities for weeks.
Agitators set fire off fireworks, blew whistles, and banged on windows and dumpsters as several local officers in riot gear observed from the lobby.
After midnight, riot police were deployed to the drive crowd back from the building and stand guard.
It is unclear if any arrests were made.
Federal authorities have arrested more than 2,000 foreign nationals during the historic enforcement surge in Minnesota, including a long list of illegal aliens who have committed horrific crimes in the U.S. over the course of decades.
Roughly 2,000 federal agents and officers have been unleashed in Minnesota and another 1,000 are either being deployed or are on standby amid expanding investigations and aggressive resistance from officials and militants on the ground.
