Paul wrote on đ, “President Trump has shown a curious characteristic of turning on those who want to hold him to account. Right at the beginning, we had the falling out with Elon Musk over the Big Beautiful Bill. Then, to Trump voters who wanted accountability on the Epstein Files, the president wrote: ‘I don’t want their support anymore.’ And now the president has attacked his biggest and most influential backers: Alex Jones, Megyn Kelly, Tucker Carlson, and Candace Owens. Why is the president burning so many important bridges?”
During his Friday podcast, Paul said the president’s outburst “doesn’t make any sense.”
Continuing, the former Texas politician recalled the time he told President Ronald Reagan he wouldn’t be supporting a bill in the House, and the 40th President politely accepted his stance.
He pointed out the way Reagan handled the situation vastly differed from the way Trump is responding to criticism by his supporters in the media and members of Congress who don’t vote for things such as the Big Beautiful Bill.
“Just yelling and screaming at people who have an honest disagreement, it’s not very ethical, it’s not very productive. It’s going the wrong way,” Paul stated.
Taking a positive stance on the fact that a large swath of the MAGA movement is currently upset with Trump, Paul noted it’s healthy for people to question politicians and hold their feet to the fire.
