A male suspect was taken into custody after a plane bound for Florida was forced to make an emergency landing due to a “possible security matter” on Friday night, according to reports.
Southwest Airlines Flight 2094 was en route from Nashville to Fort Lauderdale when the plane was diverted to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
Immediately after touching down at approximately 9 p.m., Atlanta Police Department officers in tactical gear stormed the cabin as orders were shouted for all passengers to put their hands in the air and their heads down.
Footage shot by at least two travelers has been circulating on social media amid claims that a suspect onboard had issued a “bomb threat.”

“BOMB THREAT: Friends of mine were on this plane from Nashville to Ft Lauderdale yesterday…Incredibly scary! Everyone please stay hyper-aware. Suspect appears at the end of the video,” prominent country music artist John Rich wrote on X.
Officers can been seen arresting a man of Middle Eastern or South Asian appearance, sparking additional speculation about the incident.
“Southwest Airlines Flight 2094 landed safely at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) Friday evening after diverting to respond to a possible security matter,” an airline spokesperson stated.
“We appreciate the professionalism of our Flight Crew and apologize to our Customers for the delay. Nothing is more important to Southwest than the Safety of its Customers and Employees.”
Passengers were reportedly transferred to another plane that arrived to Fort Lauderdale at approximately 3:30 a.m.
On Saturday, the FBI’s Atlanta office announced that they “investigated and interviewed the person. There was no credible threat and no charges will be filed.”
