This specific instance is not an isolated example however. The Foundation said it had received more than 200 similar complaints.
The main paragraph of the email said:
I am a (NCO rank withheld) in our unit. This morning our commander opened up the combat readiness status briefing by urging us to not be “afraid” as to what is happening with our combat operations in Iran right now. He urged us to tell our troops that this was “all part of God’s divine plan” and he specifically referenced numerous citations out of the Book of Revelation referring to Armageddon and the imminent return of Jesus Christ. He said that “President Trump has been anointed by Jesus to light the signal fire in Iran to cause Armageddon and mark his return to Earth”. He had a big grin on his face when he said all of this which made his message seem even more crazy. Our commander would probably be described as a “Christian First” supporter. He has been this way for a very long time and makes it clear that he desires all of us under him to become just like him as a Christian. But what he did this morning was so toxic and over the line that it shocked many of us in attendance at the ops readiness briefing. Besides myself I am reaching out to MRFF on behalf of 15 fellow troops. I know you asked me about the religious views of our group who has requested help from the MRFF. I can only tell you that I am Christian and at least 10 of the others are also Christians. One of the others is Jewish and one is Muslim. I don’t know the religious or non-religious status for the other three at this time.
A Military Religious Freedom Foundation representative was interviewed by media outlet Middle East Eye on Tuesday. They told the outlet that “it had received more than 200 similar complaints from personnel serving in the army, navy, air force, marine corps, and space force.”
“U.S. commanders from every arm of the military have told their units that the war on Iran is ‘anointed by Jesus’ and would bring about his return to Earth as part of the Armageddon, resulting in scores of complaints from serving members of the military,” Middle East Eye said Tuesday. “The complaints received by the MRFF, first reported by journalist Jonathan Larsen, have come from more than 40 units and span at least 30 military installations.”
Importantly, the Great Tribulation and the Beast System described in the Book of Revelation precedes the second coming of Jesus Christ, so an effort to bring about the Messiah’s return is also an effort to bring about the Beast System – as the Antichrist precedes Christ.
In the 19th century new theologies were invented, particularly in Protestant America, which became more conducive to the agenda of the modern State of Israel – Christian Dispensationalism and Christian Zionism. Orthodox talkshow host Jay Dyer recently did a series of shows where he pointed out the errors of these ideologies:
While the New Testament details the new covenant between God and man, proponents of Christian Zionism believe that modern-day Jews (who reject Jesus as the Messiah) are God’s chosen people and thus must be served by the Christians. Contemporary Jews are still waiting for the Messiah prophesied in the Old Testament while Christians believe Jesus is that Messiah, and has already came about 2026 years ago.
Perhaps the most notable example of Zionist Dispensationalism in recent times came when Sen. Ted Cruz was interviewed by talkshow host Tucker Carlson in 2025.
“Growing up in Sunday school I was taught from the Bible ‘those who bless Israel will be blessed, and those who curse Israel will be cursed’,” Cruz told Carlson at 45:00 into the interview.
Unfortunately for the Texas Senator, the Bible doesn’t say that. Carlson put Cruz on the spot when he asked where in the Bible it says that, which Cruz did not know. What the Bible does say, in Genesis 13:12-17, is a covenant between God and Abraham and his descendants.
12 Abram dwelled in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelled in the cities of the plain, and pitched his tent toward Sodom.
13 But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the Lord exceedingly.
14 And the Lord said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward:
15 For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever.
16 And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered.
17 Arise, walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it; for I will give it unto thee.
While Cruz believes the Old Testament directs Christians to serve Jews (who reject Jesus Christ), historical and traditional Christianity going back to the time of Christ understands Christianity as a new covenant that supersedes the old – the New Testament supersedes the Old Testament.
“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them,” Jesus said in Matthew 5:17.
Similarly “the Orthodox priest is likewise a minister of a new covenant that supersedes the old,” the Orthodox Study Bible said.
Note that while this understanding of the new and old covenants was commonplace for about 1800 years, the creation of Dispensationalism and Zionism in the 19th century created the need to more clearly explain how the new covenant superseded the old.
Carlson recently interviewed U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee, an ardent Christian Zionist. Huckabee told Carlson that Israel has the right to all land within Greater Israel – including its current neighbor nations.
Founder of Oath Keepers, Stewart Rhodes, explained on the Alex Jones Show on March 2, 2026 at 1:14:00 into the clip that many Jews believe their Messiah will not return until Christianity is destroyed.
It still remains unclear if the Jewish Messiah is the Christian Antichrist, however.
Middle East Eye discussed the influence of Christian Zionist and Christian Dispensationalist ideology on the U.S. military (note that two foundational tenets of these ideologies is unwavering support for the modern nation state of Israel and the rapture theory).
Michael L Weinstein, founder of MRFF and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and Reagan White House, told MEE that his organization was continuing to be inundated with complaints from serving U.S. military personnel who had been told that they should be excited to be part of the war on Iran, as it would bring about “Armageddon” and the return of Jesus Christ.
“This is not just one rogue commander,” Weinstein said, pointing to the growing influence of Christian nationalists and fundamentalists in the U.S. military.
U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, an ultra-conservative Christian nationalist who has been described as the Pentagon’s “holy warrior”, sponsors a weekly Bible study that preaches support for Israel.
As Larsen reported, while some Christians claim biblical prophecy requires Israel to exist for Jesus to return, Hegseth’s Bible study leader, Ralph Drollinger, teaches that Israel should be supported because God blesses Israel’s allies and curses its enemies.
Alex Jones has long exposed modern Christian dogma of Rapture Theory, Dispensationalism, Zionism and 501(c)3 churches as methods used to prevent Christians from taking action. The Bible actually has a verse directing the exposing of evil.
“Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them,” Ephesians 5:11 said.
