On Sunday President Donald Trump told reporters that he is preparing for a new round of negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin in hopes of putting an end to the Ukraine war. The President will also meet with European leaders early in the week as part of the same agenda.
“Certain European leaders are coming over to our country on Monday or Tuesday, individually,” Trump said, not specifying who he was referring to.
The President also said he is confident that he can bring an end to the war, going on to announce, “we’re going to get it done.”
While the day of the upcoming discussions with Putin are up in the air, Trump said they will happen “very soon, over the next couple of days.”
Regarding the current state of the war, Trump said he is “not happy about the whole situation.”
“I am not thrilled with what’s happening there,” Trump said. “I think it’s going to get settled.”
Trump has recently held a summit with Putin and another with European leaders and Ukraine’s Dictator Vladimir Zelensky. While the events failed to materialize a peace, they were reportedly productive toward that mission.
The hope in the White House is for a Putin / Zelensky summit to take place in the future.
