A U.S. citizen is facing significant charges after ‘they’ attempted to intervene in the apprehension of illegal aliens in Maine, nearly running over U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) agents in the process, authorities say.
On Friday, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) released details about the disturbing incident, which unfolded on Aug. 25 in Knox County.
Local law enforcement was responding to the scene of a commercial vehicle rollover crash with the assistance of USBP.
Two men who were traveling in the truck were found to be illegal aliens: Victor Hugo Cardona-Calderon (visa overstay) and Jhoan Andres Ortiz-Calderon (final order of removal from an immigration judge).
The illegals were being escorted to a USBP vehicle when a bystander began harassing officers.
The agitator then “used her vehicle to drive at the group of law enforcement, squealing the tires and swerving, nearly hitting them,” DHS explained in a press release.
Knox County Sheriff’s deputies pursued the suspect, who eventually crashed.
Olivia G. Wilkins was arrested and charged with aggravated reckless conduct, criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, driving to endanger, hindering apprehension, obstructing government administration, and failure to stop for an officer.
Reporters who claim to have found Wilkins’ LinkedIn profile indicate the suspect may also go by the name “Stevie” and prefers he/they pronouns.
“On Monday afternoon, a woman deliberately attempted to run over a Border Patrol Agent. This incident comes just two weeks after a threatening letter with a white powdery substance was sent to an ICE office in New York City. Less than a week ago, a violent rioter was charged with assault in San Francisco after he threatened to stab an ICE officer and harm his family. Earlier in the week, there was a bomb threat at a Dallas ICE facility,” said a DHS spokesperson.
“These incidents come after months of smears and rhetoric by activists, politicians, and the media comparing ICE law enforcement to the Nazi Gestapo, kidnappers, and the Secret Police. This shameful rhetoric has fueled a culture of hate against law enforcement resulting in a 1,000 percent increase in assaults against them. All sanctuary politicians, activists, and the media need to turn down their temperature.”
Illegal aliens and radical leftists have become increasingly brazen in their resistance to immigration law enforcement.
