A woman brandishing a firearm during an alleged hit-and-run confrontation in Georgia was disarmed and knocked unconscious before she fled the scene, according to reports.
The harrowing incident unfolded this week in Atlanta.
Brandon Parker, an Alabama resident, was on a day trip to Zoo Atlanta with his three sons, ages 2, 8, and 14.
Parker says a female driver collided with their vehicle on Interstate 20 and then crossed multiple lanes to exit the highway.
“You don’t care who’s in this car. You just hit us. You didn’t stop and check on us to make sure we’re okay. You didn’t care,” Parker told Atlanta News First.
Parker says he called 911 and followed the woman to get a photo of her license plate.
“She pulls onto a road, stops in the middle of the road, jumps out. She’s being belligerent. She tries to get in my face,” he said.
Parker says the woman pointed a pistol at his 14-year-old son who recorded the ensuing confrontation.
The screaming woman can be seen wildly waving the gun and sticking it in Parker’s face before he seizes an opportunity to rip it out of her hand — but not before a round is discharged, apparently into the ground.
“Everything I did was to keep [my kids] from getting shot. So I’m watching the gun the entire time. I’m able to kind of hip toss her and slam her head into the concrete. When I do that, it knocks her unconscious. I’m able to get the gun,” Parker explained.
He can be seen emptying the weapon of ammunition and tossing it into the road as he kneels on the woman, who eventually came to and drove off before officers arrived.
“So I let her go. You know, I stopped because self defense only goes so far. It’s not self defense if I’m trying to chase her and grab her and pin her down,” Parker stated.
“But thinking back, you know, I should have made some different decisions, because it could have cost my child.”
Atlanta police confirmed they were notified about the incident but it is unclear if any arrests have been made.
