A convicted child rapist from El Salvador remains on the loose after left-wing radicals helped him evade federal immigration authorities in Colorado.
On Wednesday, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) published the latest information on Jose Reyes Leon-Deras, a fugitive illegal alien who should have been arrested in Longmont on Friday morning.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) was preparing to apprehend Leon-Deras when members of the Colorado Rapid Response Network, a group of open-borders activists “committed” to interfering with immigration enforcement, alerted the Salvadoran about their presence and “facilitated his escape,” according to DHS.
Leon-Deras was convicted of child rape in Italy and is wanted by authorities there, but it is unclear how or when he arrived in the U.S.
“The Colorado Rapid Response Network and its 760 members disrupt ICE operations targeting dangerous criminal illegal aliens,” said DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin.
“In this case, they helped Jose Reyes Leon-Deras, an international fugitive and convicted child rapist, flee law enforcement. This dangerous monster is on the loose on American streets and could harm more innocent children.”
