Speaking with a local Ohio news outlet this week, Congressman Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) took the high road when asked about the repeated attacks he’s received by President Donald Trump.
POTUS called Massie “a moron” during the National Prayer Breakfast last month, and Massie quipped, “I’m glad I’m in the president’s prayers.”

“I vote with President Trump 91% of the time.”
“One of those 9% cases where I deviated … was when I forced the release of the Epstein files.”
“And I think it struck a nerve with him.”

Then, during a Wednesday rally in Kentucky promoting Massie’s primary opponent Ed Gallrein, Trump called the congressman “the worst person” and asked, “How the hell did he ever end up in Kentucky?”
Joining Trump onstage, Gallrein said, “Tom Massie stands with the ladies of ‘The View.'”
Massie told WLWT Cincinnati, “I’ve got thick skin. You know, I vote with the party and with President Trump ninety percent of the time. One of those nine percent cases where I deviated, and I think it struck a nerve with him, was when I forced the release of the Epstein files. I authored that bill.”
Questioned about the president’s swipes at him, Massie said, “I still like President Trump, I voted for him three times, but Ronald Reagan said, ‘Trust but verify,’ and that’s where I am. I trust, but sometimes he has bad advisors, sometimes he has the wrong people whispering in his ear.”
“I trust the voters to figure this out,” the congressman said of his upcoming primary election faceoff with Gallrein.
While admitting he’d prefer the president stop attacking him, he also revealed his campaign received a nice fundraising bump following Trump’s most recent remarks.
