The U.S. deployed covert technology that prevented Venezuelan missile defense systems from operating during the raid in Venezuela two weeks ago, President Donald Trump told the World Economic Forum Wednesday.
Speaking in Davos, Switzerland, Trump described how Venezuelan forces were unable to fire missiles at U.S. aircraft amid the January 3 raid that captured Nicolas Maduro.
“So now our country – and the world face – much greater risks than it did ever before because of missiles, because of nuclear, because of weapons of warfare that I can’t even talk about.”
He went on to talk about them.

“Two weeks ago, they saw weapons that nobody ever heard of. They weren’t able to fire,” Trump said.
“One shot at us. They said, ‘What happened?’ Everything was discombobulated.”
He continued: “They said, ‘We’ve got them in our sights! Press the trigger’ – and nothing happened. No anti-aircraft missiles went up. There was one that went up about 30 feet and crashed down right next to the people that sent it. They said, ‘What the hell is going on?'”
“Those defensive systems were made by Russia and by China. So they’re going to go back to the drawing boards, I guess,” he added.
Trump’s disclosure of weaponry that disabled missile systems follows news the U.S. also used a powerful sonic weapon during the raid that reportedly made Venezuelan forces bleed from the nose and vomit blood.
According to an alleged account by a Venezuelan security guard, Venezuelan defenses failed to repel U.S. soldiers after an intense sound wave weapon was fired.

Interviewer: And your own weapons? Didn’t they help?
Security Guard: No help at all. Because it wasn’t just the weapons. At one point, they launched something—I don’t know how to describe it… it was like a very intense sound wave. Suddenly I felt like my head was exploding from the inside. We all started bleeding from the nose. Some were vomiting blood. We fell to the ground, unable to move.
Interviewer: And your comrades? Did they manage to resist?
Security Guard: No, not at all. Those twenty men, without a single casualty, killed hundreds of us. We had no way to compete with their technology, with their weapons. I swear, I’ve never seen anything like it. We couldn’t even stand up after that sonic weapon or whatever it was.
Interviewer: So do you think the rest of the region should think twice before confronting the Americans?
Security Guard: Without a doubt. I’m sending a warning to anyone who thinks they can fight the United States. They have no idea what they’re capable of. After what I saw, I never want to be on the other side of that again. They’re not to be messed with.
