A grisly scene unfolded in Los Angeles, California, over the weekend as a deranged man reportedly cut off his penis and stabbed himself, before dying from the self-inflicted injuries.
The incident happened around 3:40 a.m. Saturday near the L.A. convention center, as witnesses reported a man in his 40s cutting himself with a “sharp instrument.”
A photojournalist with OnScene TV reported seeing a naked man collapse as he walked to a 7-11 store, describing he had “cut his penis off and bled to death.”
Police told TMZ the man had also sliced his own throat and tried to cut off his arm.
Images from the scene showed pools of blood on the sidewalk as police erected a white tent around the gruesome fatality.
The man has not been identified and his cause of death has not been determined.
Police also have not identified the instrument he used, and have not stated whether drugs were involved.
