LIVE COVERAGE: Two National Guard Troops Shot In “Ambush Attack” Near White House, Suspect In Custody

Two national guard troops were shot near the White House Wednesday afternoon. Authorities say a suspect is in custody and the scene is secured.

FBI Director Kash Patel has confirmed the two National Guard soldiers are in critical condition.

Earlier, West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey said two national guard troops are dead.

It is with great sorrow that we can confirm both members of the West Virginia National Guard who were shot earlier today in Washington, DC have passed away from their injuries. These brave West Virginians lost their lives in the service of their country. We are in ongoing contact…

However, 20 minutes later, Morrisey said he’s getting “conflicting” reports on their condition.

We are now receiving conflicting reports about the condition of our two Guard members and will provide additional updates once we receive more complete information.

CBS news is reporting this was an “ambush attack” according to law enforcement.
