Over 40 Planned Parenthood clinics have either closed or will close this year as the Trump administration starves the organization of taxpayer funding.
According to a tracker compiled by Susan B. Anthony (SBA) Pro-Life America, 41 clinics have closed or will close.
“Life is winning. The One Big Beautiful Bill’s provision defunding Big Abortion is not even fully in effect and still 41 Planned Parenthoods have closed or will close soon”, SBA Pro-Life America said in a statement.
“Imagine how many more will shut down once they stop receiving half a billion dollars in Medicaid money. By Planned Parenthood’s own account, our victory stopping the forced taxpayer funding of abortion businesses could cause up to 200 facilities to close.”
Planned Parenthood received record taxpayer funding in 2023-2024. The organization received $792.2 million in taxpayer funding, almost $100 million more than the previous year.
The organization also performed a record 402,230 abortions, an increase of just under 10,000.
In July, President Trump’s flagship “Big Beautiful Bill” passed. It contained a specific measure to strip Planned Parenthood of taxpayer funding.
Planned Parenthood immediately sued the Trump administration, claiming that 200 clinics are at risk of closure.
An Obama-appointed judge has blocked the defunding provision while litigation continues.
Individual states, including South Carolina and Oklahama, have moved to prevent federal funding reaching abortion providers, and have received support from the Supreme Court.
