Customs and Border Protection (CBP) just released details about the bust, which unfolded on Jan. 21 in Texas.
CBP officers conducting outbound enforcement operations at the Laredo Port of Entry selected a commercial bus heading to Mexico for secondary screening.
One of the passengers they encountered onboard was identified as Rogelio Isaac Hernandez Flores, a 35-year-old Mexican national with no legal right to be in the U.S.
Officers discovered Hernandez Flores had an active felony warrant for sexual offense against a child under 14 years old issued by the Modesto Police Department in Modesto, California.
“The apprehension of this undocumented individual, who was attempting to leave the country and was found to have an active warrant for a serious offense, demonstrates the vigilance and dedication of our frontline officers in identifying and detaining those who may pose a threat before they can cause further harm,” stated Laredo Port of Entry Director Alberto Flores.
Hernandez Flores was turned over to the Webb County Sheriff’s Office to await criminal proceedings.
