An illegal alien released into the U.S. by the Biden regime has been caught by federal authorities after weeks on the loose following a catastrophic collision in Maryland.

On Nov. 9, Kevin Alexis Mendez-Ortiz was driving on a road in Prince George’s County when he swerved into oncoming traffic and slammed head-on into another vehicle, according to the Department of Homeland Security.

Mendez-Ortiz reportedly fled the scene of the accident, which left a passenger in the other car fighting for her life.

The unidentified woman — a U.S. citizen — suffered significant injuries, including broken vertebrae, a broken collarbone, a broken wrist, fractured ribs, injury to her intestines and uterus, a ruptured diaphragm, a collapsed lung, and a concussion.

On Nov. 12, the Prince George’s County Police Department cited Mendez-Ortiz for nearly a dozen violations, including driving without a license or registration, but he was apparently released back into the sanctuary jurisdiction.

On Nov. 25, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Baltimore apprehended Mendez-Ortiz during a targeted operation in Oxon Hill, MD.

Mendez-Ortiz is a citizen of Honduras who illegally crossed the southern border in September 2022 near Hidalgo, TX.

The Honduran was captured by U.S. Border Patrol, issued a notice to appear before a federal immigration judge, and unleashed into the interior on the same day.

“This tragic incident underscores why ICE remains steadfast in its mission to identify, apprehend and remove illegal aliens who pose a threat to public safety,” said ICE Baltimore acting Field Office Director Jeremy Bacon.

“A U.S. citizen suffered devastating injuries because of the reckless behavior of an illegal alien who had no lawful right to be in our country. The Baltimore field office extends our deepest hopes for our fellow citizen’s full and speedy recovery.”

Illegal alien drivers continue to destroy American lives on a near-daily basis.
