The Hershey Company, also known as Hershey’s, announced this week that it plans on getting rid of toxic synthetic dyes from its candy bars in the next couple of years.

“@Hersheys just pledged to eliminate synthetic dyes from its candy by the end of 2027. I call on all other companies to follow their lead and help Make America Healthy Again,” wrote Health and Human Services Secretary Kennedy.

In a statement to Bloomberg, a Hershey’s spokesperson said, “Removing these colors is a natural next step in our program to ensure consumers have options to fit their lifestyle while maintaining trust and confidence in our products.”

The move comes soon after Kellogg’s, Kraft Heinz, Tyson Foods, Conagra Brands, Nestle USA and General Mills all recently announced they too will be ditching the unhealthy dyes from their food and drink products.

Trump administration Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is receiving praise for pressuring companies to remove the chemical dyes after he announced in April that the FDA would be banning them in the next few years as part of the Make America Healthy Again movement.
