A Guatemalan man was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a 12-year-old victim in Indiana this week, authorities say.
Just after midnight on Tuesday, the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) was called to a residence in Johnson Township.
“A third party reported her friend had been sexually assaulted by a family member,” LCSO explained in a press release.
Deputies interviewed the victim and others present and learned the accused was hiding in a bedroom inside the home.
Juan Francisco, 40, was taken into custody and transported to the La Porte County Jail.
He has since been charged with two counts of child molestation, level 1 and 4 felonies, and is being held without bond.
Additionally, Immigration and Customs Enforcement has issued a detainer against Francisco, indicating he may be in the country illegally.
