Image Credit: cspan 2 screenshot Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.) went off on his fellow congressmen Wednesday, telling reporters the House is in “a fistfight” to pass legislation banning members of Congress from trading stocks.
“Everybody talks about this place being a dadgum swamp. It’s not a swamp. A swamp is something cool God created – it filters water, animal life lives and flourishes around it. This is a sewer. This is created by man, and it needs to stop,” he said.
HOLY CRAP! Tim Burchett is GOING OFF this morning over how BAD insider stock trading is in DC. I have NOT seen him this FIRED UP like this ever before.

“For years, Congress has been using hard-working American taxpayers’ money to get rich, dadgum it’s gotta stop,” Burchett added. “America knows what’s going on. Everyone wants to knock Pelosi? Heck, she’s not even in the top ten! Get on that Unusual Whales site, this is pathetic.”
The congressman then dished out an old Tennessee saying, telling the public, “This place is as CROOKED as a dog’s leg.”
Rep. Burchett explained that members of Congress get access to information before it reaches the public and that some of them clearly use it to their advantage by making hundreds of lucrative stock trades every year.
He continued to bluntly say the bill “isn’t going to pass” because it will be stonewalled in the Senate.
“This is a scam that’s being played on the American public and it needs to stop,” the Tennessee congressman said. “Let’s quit with this nonsense. Let’s give America a reason to trust Congress for once in our miserable lives. This is our chance to stand up and say, ‘We hear what you’re saying, we are going to fix this dadgum problem,’ but we probably won’t do it and I’ll remained ticked off the rest of the day because of this and it needs to stop.”
The remarks came as the House Administration Committee held a hearing Wednesday morning to debate whether or not they should ban lawmaker stock trading as the American public is becoming increasingly upset about the issue.
