President Donald Trump on Saturday posted to Truth Social, slamming Democrat Senator Chuck Schumer (N.Y.) for extorting his administration by demanding a billion dollars in exchange for the U.S. Senate voting to approve the president’s nominees instead of heading home for their monthlong recess.
“Senator Cryin’ Chuck Schumer is demanding over One Billion Dollars in order to approve a small number of our highly qualified nominees, who should right now be helping to run our Country,” Trump wrote.
POTUS called the demand “egregious and unprecedented,” saying it would be “embarrassing” to the GOP if they caved to the “political extortion.”
Trump added, “Tell Schumer, who is under tremendous political pressure from within his own party, the Radical Left Lunatics, to GO TO HELL!”
After asking the politicians to refuse Schumer’s offer, POTUS added, “Have a great RECESS and, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!”
Now, Republicans Republicans are contemplating a change to Senate rules when they return in September so they can get the confirmations through more quickly.
Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) discussed the potential altering of chamber rules on Saturday, saying, “I think they’re desperately in need of change. I think that the last six months have demonstrated that this process, nominations is broken. And so I expect there will be some good robust conversations about that.”
Meanwhile, Schumer told Americans, “Donald Trump tried to bully us, go around us, threaten us, call us names, but he got nothing.”
The administration was hoping to get over 130 nominees confirmed ahead of the summer break.
Trump added, “THE DEMOCRATS ARE EXTORTIONISTS WHO ALMOST DESTROYED OUR COUNTRY. NOW WE ARE BACK, AND THE USA IS THE “HOTTEST” COUNTRY ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!”
