Authorities have captured the last of four dangerous illegal aliens who escaped a detention center in New Jersey last month.
On Thursday, Andres Felipe Pineda-Mogollon was apprehended by federal agents in the sanctuary city of Los Angeles.
Pineda-Mogollon, a 25-year-old Colombian national, had been on the run since June 12 after breaking out of Delaney Hall Detention Facility in Newark, NJ.
On that day, four male illegal aliens with serious criminal records reportedly managed to smash through a wall and flee the premises.
Two of the escapees were re-captured within 48 hours.
A third, Joan Sebastian Castaneda-Lozada, attempted to surrender to New Jersey State Police a day after the breakout, but was turned away due to state sanctuary policies.
Castaneda-Lozada turned himself in to federal authorities on June 15.
Pineda-Mogollon remained on the loose for more than a month, somehow managing to traverse the entire country and land in the sanctuary state of California.
Pineda-Mogollon overstayed a tourist visa after entering the U.S. in 2023.
In April, he was arrested in New York City and charged with petit larceny.
In May, he was arrested in Union, NJ, and charged with residential burglary, conspiracy residential burglary, and possession of burglary tools.
“We are tremendously grateful to our brave ICE agents and law enforcement partners for capturing Andres Pineda-Mogollon and the other three dangerous criminal illegal aliens who escaped Delaney Hall,” said DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin.
“Politicians and activists relentlessly try to smear ICE—but the facts remain true: Delaney Hall houses dangerous criminals, including these four fugitives who committed aggravated assault, burglary, theft and even threatened to kill law enforcement. Now, these slimeballs no longer pose a threat to public safety.”
