A female illegal alien who was unleashed into the U.S. by the Obama regime has been deported after serving time for a hit-and-run collision that killed a pedestrian in Florida.
On Dec. 20, 2020, Hilda Esperanza Lopez-Hernandez was driving a late-model Ford Mustang when she struck 63-year-old David Hayes as he attempted to cross U.S. Highway 98, according to local media.
Hayes, a local resident, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Lopez-Hernandez, who was 19 at the time, fled to a nearby restaurant parking lot and called her boyfriend, 40-year-old Antonio Reyes Macias.
The lovers reportedly swapped vehicles and continued onward without checking on Hayes or notifying authorities about the crash.
Lopez-Hernandez and Macias were later arrested on Dec. 31, 2020.
In January 2023, Lopez-Hernandez was convicted of hit-and-run, operating a motor vehicle without a license, and hiding evidence. She was sentenced to four years in prison.
Lopez-Hernandez recently completed her sentence and was taken into custody by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
ICE Miami deported her back to Honduras on Apr. 12.
Lopez-Hernandez illegally entered the U.S. as a minor with her mother and another child in 2014.
They were apprehended by Border Patrol, issued a notice to appear in federal immigration court, and released into the interior.
After Lopez-Hernandez failed to appear for an immigration hearing in 2018, a judge issued a final order of removal in absentia.
“Hilda Esperanza Lopez-Hernandez entered the country as a teenager, but she was an adult when she fled the scene of an accident without bothering to check on the other driver,” said ICE Director Todd M. Lyons.
“Not only did she choose to remain in the U.S. illegally, drive without a license and leave the scene of an accident — she was prepared to let her boyfriend take the blame.”
