Several Democrat politicians and pundits called for more gun control within hours of Wednesday’s deadly Minneapolis, Minnesota, catholic school shooting.
Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.) posted to đ, writing, “Kids should not fear going to school. Parents should not fear for their babies’ lives when they kiss them goodbye. I’m heartbroken for the victims, families, & community at Annunciation Catholic in Minnesota. This trauma is preventable. We must take action against gun violence.”
Congressman Chris Deluzio (D-Pa.) posted, “I refuse to accept gun violenceâat mass, at school, anywhereâas inevitable and something we must accept as Americans.”
Democratic Candidate for Missouri-5 U.S. House, Hartzell Gray, called for “common-sense gun safety legislation” and blamed President Trump for getting “rid of the Office of Gun Violence Prevention,” writing, “Trump gutted the resources that were in place to keep our communities safe.”
Democrat Minnesota State Senator Zaynab Mohamed, a Somali-born U.S. citizen, spoke with CNN and said, “It’s time that adults come together and do something about the epidemic of gun violence across the country.”
In another CNN segment, a guest absurdly alleged, “These things [guns] can shoot dozens of bullets in just one trigger-pull.”
Over on MSNBC, Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) condemned “guns and automatic rifles.”
After boasting of the gun laws already on the books in her state, Klobuchar admitted they were “not enough to stop something like this.”
The senator also claimed the gun used in the attack “was clearly one of these automatic rifles.”
Liberal activist, school shooting survivor and short-lived former Vice Chair of the Democratic National Committee David Hogg also called for “stronger gun safety laws.”
The Democrat reaction to call for more gun control following deadly shootings has become a tired stereotype.
