Conservative CNN commentator Scott Jennings forced his Democrat colleagues and former Speaker of the New York City Council Christine Quinn (D) to admit they support socialist NYC mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani’s stance to not cooperate with federal immigration laws.
Responding to a recent comment by President Trump, who said he may arrest the hopeful NYC mayor if he obstructs ICE deportations, Mamdani said, “If you speak up, they will come for you. We will not accept this intimidation.”
Jennings replied to Mamdani’s remark by pointing out it “would be illegal if he interfered with federal agents who were trying to enforce federal law.”
Quinn claimed the Big Apple mayor has the right to tell city agencies “not to bring people over to ICE at Rikers” prison based on a bill she passed during her time as speaker of the city council.
Asked if the official position of New York Democrats is now that they should “use city resources to interfere with the federal government’s enforcement of the law,” Quinn said, “Absolutely not,” despite the fact that it’s a part of Mamdani’s platform.
Again trying to ask if Democrats are going to follow along with the socialist politician trying to interfere with federal agents, Jennings’ question was dodged by Quinn, who answered, “He’s not trying to interfere with federal agents, he is going to implement the laws that exist, which prevent city agencies from working in cahoots with the federal agencies.”
“It’s literally a part of his campaign!” Jennings said, asking, “Why shouldn’t federal law be enforced in New York just like everywhere else?”
The ex-NYC speaker said, “The city of New York has the right as a sanctuary city to say, ‘We’re not going to, in Rikers, allow ICE to set up a table – which they used to do – and walk people over to them. It’s the law!”
So, under Mamdani’s leadership New York City will not allow ICE to apprehend and deport individuals already in Rikers Island prison for committing crimes in addition to the crime of being in the U.S. illegally.
These types of unpopular policies are exactly why Democrats are losing big time as Americans do not want criminal illegal aliens making their streets more dangerous.
