CIA Director John Ratcliffe announced on Friday the agency is retracting or substantially revising 19 intelligence reports that failed to meet current CIA standards.
“CIA is committed to delivering objective intelligence free from bias, partisanship, and any form of undue influence,” the intel agency wrote on social media.
17 of the reports were fully retracted and two have been withdrawn until revisions are made.
Only three of the assessments were publicly released, with the agency saying they were politically influenced and focused on DEI.
One of the rescinded reports was a 2021 assessment about “Women Advancing White Racially and Ethnically Motivated Violent Extremist Radicalization and Recruitment,” which focused on gender roles instead of political violence.
Canadian YouTuber Lauren Southern was targeted in the document as a racially and ethnically motivated violent extremist, suggesting women pursuing traditional roles as mothers could lead them to becoming domestic terrorists.
Another report from 2020 attacked traditional families, plotting to use Planned Parenthood to disrupt condom supply chains.
A 2015 document encouraged the CIA to take part in “political debates about LGBT issues” in foreign governments to combat “the tough stance taken against the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community by governments in the Middle East and North Africa.”
The retractions were applauded by Sen. Tom Cotton of Arkansas (R), the Republican chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee, who wrote on 𝕏, “I’ve been sending these kind of reports back to the CIA for years and observing that they contain no intelligence.”
