Infowars reporter Breanna Morello received a statement from Brown University on Wednesday after asking the Ivy League school about removing information on its website regarding a student being labeled a possible suspect by internet researchers.
Morello also questioned the university about rumors the shooter shouted, “Allahu Akbar” during the deadly attack, but Brown did not address this issue.
Brown University stated, “Doxxing of a Community Member: In the aftermath of the shooting, we’ve seen harmful doxxing activity directed toward at least one member of the Brown University community. It’s important to make clear that targeting individuals could do irrevocable harm. Accusations, speculation and conspiracies we’re seeing on social media and in some news reports are irresponsible, harmful, and in some cases dangerous for the safety of individuals in our community.”
“It is not unusual as a safety measure to take steps to protect an individual’s safety when this kind of activity happens, including in regard to their online presence. As law enforcement officials stated clearly on Tuesday afternoon, if this individual’s name had any relevance to the current investigation, they would be actively looking for this individual and providing information publicly,” the statement concluded.
On Tuesday, Brown University President Christina Paxson told reporters she had never heard of the school’s web page for the student being taken down.
Alex Jones commented on the university removing the student’s likeness from its website in an exclusive report, questioning why the school would remove web pages with information about him if he is not a suspect in the case.
