Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos is working with the FBI and Customs and Border Protection to investigate the matter.
Emergency responders were called to the scene where they found one person in custody, suffering from a gunshot wound.
The suspect was placed on a helicopter and flown to a nearby hospital.
Details about the incident have yet to be released, but the nation is on edge about any immigration-related shooting after leftist Minnesota anti-ICE demonstrators Renee Good and Alex Pretti were shot and killed earlier this month.
House Democrats Hakeem Jeffries, Katherine Clark and Pete Aguilar issued a statement Tuesday, claiming, “Taxpayer dollars are being weaponized by the Trump administration to kill American citizens, brutalize communities and violently target law-abiding immigrant families.”
The politicians also alleged, “Republicans are planning to shut large parts of the government down on Friday so that the DHS killing spree unleashed in Minnesota can continue throughout America. That is immoral.”
“Kristi Noem should be fired immediately, or we will commence impeachment proceedings in the House of Representatives,” the message concluded.
Border czar Tom Homan is meeting with Minnesota Democrat Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey (D) on Tuesday, hoping to tone down the hostility currently dividing America.
