Ex-CNN host Don Lemon was arrested by federal agents in Los Angeles on Thursday as he covered the Grammy Awards, with his attorney Abbe Lowell noting he is being detained in relation to his involvement in storming a Minneapolis, Minnesota, church earlier this month.

“Don has been a journalist for 30 years, and his constitutionally protected work in Minneapolis was no different than what he has always done. The First Amendment exists to protect journalists whose role it is to shine light on the truth and hold those in power accountable. There is no more important time for people like Don to be doing this work,” Lowell wrote.

Footage of Lemon covering the raid on the Minnesota church shows he knew beforehand what the group of far-left activists was going to do, telling his viewers he “can’t tell” them about the location of the “surprise operation.”

He was even careful not to get too close to the activists when they were planning their “operation” in a parking lot, because he didn’t want to “get too much of their information in there” as they “strategized.”

Continuing his message, Lowell started bashing the Trump administration and ICE officers, writing, “Instead of investigating the federal agents who killed two peaceful Minnesota protesters, the Trump Justice Department is devoting its time, attention and resources to this arrest, and that is the real
indictment of wrongdoing in this case. This unprecedented attack on the First Amendment and transparent attempt to distract attention from the many crises facing this administration will not stand. Don will fight these charges vigorously and thoroughly in court.”

AG Pam Bondi wrote on 𝕏, “At my direction, early this morning federal agents arrested Don Lemon, Trahern Jeen Crews, Georgia Fort, and Jamael Lydell Lundy, in connection with the coordinated attack on Cities Church in St. Paul, Minnesota.”

The attorney general also posted a video on the subject.

Earlier this week, the Justice Department’s (DoJ) bid to arrest CNN anchor Don Lemon and four others involved in the church invasion was rejected, after a lower-court panel refused to approve the warrants to take them into custody.

While Democrats cry that the arrest was an attack on Lemon’s First Amendment, a source told CBS News that he was apprehended after a grand jury was empaneled Thursday.

Leftists freaked out online over Lemon’s arrest:

Meanwhile, the White House mocked the situation, writing, “When life gives you lemons…”
