Political establishment jester Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night comedy show was pulled from the air by Disney on Wednesday after the show host falsely told his audience that Charlie Kirk’s killer Tyler Robinson was part of the “MAGA gang.”
“We hit some new lows over the weekend, with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it,” Kimmel said earlier this week.
An ABC spokesperson told Deadline, âJimmy Kimmel Live will be preempted indefinitely,” and Nexstar Media Group issued a statement, reading, âNexstarâs owned and partner television stations affiliated with the ABC Television Network will preempt Jimmy Kimmel Live! for the foreseeable future beginning with tonightâs show. Nexstar strongly objects to recent comments made by Mr. Kimmel concerning the killing of Charlie Kirk and will replace the show with other programming in its ABC-affiliated markets.â
The President of Nexstar’s broadcasting division called Kimmel’s remarks “insensitive at a critical time in our national political discourse.”
Before the announcement, FCC chair Brendan Carr told podcast host and conservative commentator Benny Johnson that Kimmel engaged in âthe sickest conduct possibleâ and suggested the FCC could revoke ABC affiliate licenses.
Left-wing New York magazine Vulture wrote, “Conservative cancel culture has come for Jimmy Kimmel.”
While the liberal political establishment can cry “cancel culture” all it wants, they have hammered the notion in recent years that there are often consequences for free speech, especially when people have massive audiences like Kimmel.
It’s also worth noting that Kimmel’s claim was the total opposite of reality as law enforcement revealed Robinson was motivated by far-left ideology and radical transgender rhetoric.
