A U.S. Border Patrol agent was shot in the face by an illegal alien last night in New York City, according to reports.
The shocking incident unfolded at around 11:50 p.m. on Saturday in Manhattan.
The 42-year-old federal officer was off-duty at the time of the attack, which took place in Fort Washington Park.
The agent and a female companion were sitting on a rock near the Hudson River when they were ambushed by two Hispanic males riding a moped, NYPD sources told the New York Post.
During an ensuing confrontation, one of the suspects fired a gun, striking the agent in the face and arm.
The wounded man drew his own weapon and discharged multiple rounds that struck at least one of his assailants as they fled the scene.
One of the suspects turned up at a Bronx hospital suffering from three gunshot wounds.
He has been identified as a 21-year-old citizen of the Dominican Republic who illegally entered the U.S. in 2023.
The other suspect remains at large at the time of this writing.
The injured agent underwent emergency surgery and is expected to survive.
