Bondi filed the motion in the US District Court of Southern Florida.
“In the light of the Act’s clear mandate, the Court should authorize the Department of Justice to release the grand jury transcripts and lift any preexisting protective orders that would otherwise prevent public disclosure,” the motion reads.
The motion states that all sensitive information, including the names of victims, will be redacted.
President Trump had originally directed AG Bondi to release the files back in July, but the move was blocked in federal court. Grand-jury transcripts are normally kept sealed to protect the reputations of those under investigation and to make it easier to obtain truthful testimony from witnesses.
The Epstein files have been a source of bitter controversy for the Trump administration for months, after the President and senior members of his administration promised full disclosure during last year’s election campaign.
This week, President Trump—who had previously dismissed the files as a “Democrat hoax”—urged Republican members of Congress to support their release by voting in favour of the Epstein Files Transparency Act. The Act passed 427-1 in the House before passing unanimously in the Senate. President Trump signed the act into law on Wednesday.
The files have caused friction between President Trump and some of his key allies, including Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene.
Yesterday, Rep. Greene announced her resignation, effective January 2026.
Greene posted a long video on social media explaining her decision.
“I have too much self respect and dignity, love my family way too much, and do not want my sweet district to have to endure a hurtful and hateful primary against me by the President we all fought for, only to fight and win my election while Republicans will likely lose the midterms,” she stated.
“And in turn, be expected to defend the President against impeachment after he hatefully dumped tens of millions of dollars against me and tried to destroy me.
“It’s all so absurd and completely unserious. I refuse to be a ‘battered wife’ hoping it all goes away and gets better.”
Greene continued, saying she had “fought harder than almost any other elected Republicans” to get Trump elected, even though she had serious disagreements with the administration in “a few areas.”
“Loyalty should be a two way street and we should be able to vote our conscience and represent our district’s interest because our job title is literally, ‘Representative.’”
President Trump greeted the resignation as “great news.”
“I think it’s great news for the country. It’s great,” Trump said, according to ABC News. “I think she should be happy.”
