An illegal alien from Venezuela who was unleashed into the U.S. by the Biden regime is facing significant charges for grabbing a federal agent’s handgun while violently resisting arrest in Michigan last week, authorities say.
The harrowing incident unfolded on March 4 in Utica, a small city just north of Detroit.
Federal law enforcement officers assigned to a Homeland Security Task Force were monitoring a business after receiving a tip that illegal aliens were working as delivery drivers there, according to a press release issued by the U.S. Attorney’s Office (USAO) for the Eastern District of Michigan.
Agents observed a vehicle registered to 33-year-old Arnoldo Jose Marquez-Pulido, whom they determined was in the U.S. illegally.
When agents attempted to stop Marquez-Pulido’s vehicle, he sped away at a high rate of speed.
Officers cautiously pursued Marquez-Pulido until he returned to the parking lot of the business they were surveilling.
When they moved to apprehend him, he tried to run into the business, but was tackled by a Task Force agent at the entrance.
“Marquez-Pulido forcibly resisted arrest, assaulting the task force agent by striking the agent in the face with his elbow. Marquez-Pulido then reached for the agent’s service firearm, a Glock Model 19 pistol. Marquez-Pulido was able to remove the firearm from the agent’s holster and briefly wield it before he lost control of the gun when the agent flipped him over,” the USAO explained.
“Additional Task Force officers and agents arrived on scene and recovered and secured the firearm from the ground where it landed after it slipped from Marquez-Pulido’s possession. Marquez-Pulido continued to forcibly resist and had to be restrained.”
The Department of Justice has released images from the struggle, which took place outside a Sam’s Club, according to local media.
Two agents were treated for contusions and abrasions at a local hospital and released.
“Some say that enforcing our nation’s immigration laws is unfair because illegal aliens are all harmless. Today’s allegations break that narrative,” U.S. Attorney Jerome F. Gorgon, Jr. said on Wednesday.
“High speed flight from arrest, fighting federal agents, and grabbing an agent’s gun are not ‘harmless.’ And what’s ‘unfair’ is the fact that Americans pay the price for dangerous illegal aliens.”
Marquez-Pulido was charged in a criminal complaint with assaulting a federal law enforcement officer and grabbing and possessing the officer’s firearm.
Illegal aliens and radical leftists have become increasingly violent in their resistance to immigration law enforcement.
