Authorities in West Texas apprehended an illegal alien who was carrying identification issued to him by the city of Chicago.
Terrell County Sheriff Thaddeus Cleveland shared details about the strange encounter along with photographs of the man and his ID card.
“My deputy questioned a man wandering around the back of a bank in Sanderson. He was a Venezuelan citizen, who had crossed illegally into the United States in 2023 during Biden’s catch and release days,” Sheriff Cleveland explained.
The Venezuelan told deputies he had arrived by train and was waiting to be picked up by his son.
A sharp-eyed X user pointed out that the ID card appeared to show an address close to an infamous ‘migrant shelter’ near the Salt Shed music venue in Chicago.
U.S. Border Patrol agents from Sanderson Station arrested the Venezuelan and turned him over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody, where he will remain until his immigration hearing.
“He road the train down here. Definitely different, but I think his story was legit. Wrong place at the wrong time!” Sheriff Cleveland told InfoWars.
Cleveland says illegal crossings remain low in his neck of the woods but stressed that they are still occurring almost daily and continued vigilance is critical.
“Just because we are slow, doesn’t mean things aren’t happening. We have to keep at it!” he stated.
