Authorities are investigating whether the transgender roommate and romantic partner of Tyler Robinson, the suspect in the murder of Charlie Kirk, holds the key to understanding his motivation for the killing.
Investigators now believe that Robinson was angry at Kirk for his beliefs about transgenderism, and that this anger may explain why he decided to kill him.
Investigators believe Robinson and the roommate were romantically involved. The roommate is transitioning from male to female.
An official told Fox News that the roommate is currently being “extremely cooperative,” and appears to have had “no idea” of Robinson’s plans to assassinate Kirk.
FBI agents have removed a large quantity of evidence from their shared apartment, including computers, which has been sent to Quantico for analysis.
Robinson apparently sent the roommate text messages after the shooting in which he described the shooting and mentioned hiding his rifle wrapped in a towel. He also told the roommate that the rifle would have to be retrieved.
“It’s pretty clear that Robinson’s roommate knew a lot and didn’t say anything after the killing, so they’re a person of interest officially and are cooperating,” a second official said.
“We want to keep it that way.”
“What we want to know is if anyone else had knowledge [of the shooting], before or after,” the official added.
A family member of the roommate, identified as Lance Twiggs, told Wisconsin Right Now that Twiggs is “very angry with anyone who is supportive of conservative ideals and Christian values.”
“As far as I know, he was not going by another name. I just know he was in the process of transitioning. I know he was trying to take different medications,” alleged the relative of Lance, whom the family member had avoided for about four years out of concern over Twiggs’ alleged temperament.
The family member said they heard second-hand from other family members that Lance had allegedly “wished horrible things on people. I’ve really distanced. There was (allegedly) evil inside and only getting worse.”
Bullet casings found at the scene were inscribed with a number of leftist slogans, including “notices bulge,” a reference to a well-known meme from the furry community, a subculture associated with the LGBTQ+ community where participants wear furry animal costumes.
Yesterday, Infowars reported that a family friend described how Robinson had become radicalised during his sophomore year at high school.
Tyler Robinson’s friend spoke anonymously to The Guardian and said Robinson was “pretty left on everything,” and was “the only member of his family that was really leftist.”
“The rest of his family was very hard Republican,” the friend added.
The friend described how Robinson had begun adopting more extreme leftist positions during his sophomore year at high school and said he would “always be ranting and arguing about them.”
The friend said he was shocked by Robinson’s arrest.
“I knew he had strong political views, but I never thought it would even go near that far.”
He described how he and Robinson had slowly fallen out of friendship by the end of high school, and said they had not spoken in years.
Kirk, 31, was murdered at a Turning Point USA event in Utah on Wednesday.
