Venezuelans who fled their homeland to escape the brutal Maduro regime can now make plans to return.
Venezuelans living in Florida told immigration news outlet Border Hawk they’re grateful for the intervention of the United States in Caracas.
“Thank you President Trump, thank you Marco Rubio for your tremendous support for Venezuela,” a joyous man stated.
“Venezuela can be free. All Venezuelans can return to our country as soon as possible.”
Venezuelans flooded the streets of Miami-Dade County this weekend to celebrate the capture of Nicolás Maduro and his wife by the U.S. military on Saturday.
“It is a triumph of Trump. We are grateful to Trump. He is going to get rid of the communism in Central and South America,” one Venezuelan woman asserted.
Another woman said, “We are so happy. 26 years of corruption, assassinations, dictatorship. We are ecstatic. Thank you.”
In November, the Trump administration ended Temporary Protected Status for roughly 600,000 Venezuelans residing in the U.S.
“I think the great news for those who are here from Venezuela on Temporary Protected Status is that they can now go home with hope for their country, a country that they love, and that there is going to be peace, prosperity, and stability,” Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin told Fox News on Sunday.
More than 8 million Venezuelans are living outside their home country, amounting to roughly 20% of the total population.
