U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz posted a video on 𝕏 Tuesday, breaking down how he plans on saving U.S. taxpayers money by helping reform the United Nations’ “bloated bureaucracy.”
Waltz wrote, “The UN has become a bloated bureaucracy and MUST reform! POTUS has said the UN must live up to its potential. We have pressed the UN to:”
- 25% cut to global peacekeepers
- 2600 HQ bureaucrats cut
- 15% budget cut
In his video, Waltz and U.S. ambassador to the United Nations for Management and Reform Jeff Bartos praised President Trump, saying the “DOGEing” of the UN over the past two months has cut over $1 billion in UN spending.
“They [UN] spent $360 million on meetings, conferences and reports. Over $70 million on tuition reimbursement for colleges and universities for UN employees,” Bartos said.
“We have a coalition of countries all over the world that are eager to get on the reform bandwagon,” he added. “And I look forward, over the next year and over the next three years, we’re going to make this place fit for purpose. We’re going to make it work, and we’re going to be proud of our investment here in the UN.”
Waltz chimed in, saying, “Yeah, look, the President has made it clear the UN has a lot of potential. We can’t throw the baby out with the bathwaters, but we have to reform, and we have to clean house. We have to make this place work better.”
“We need one place in the world where everybody can come and talk and diplomacy can work,” he continued. “But it can’t be so bloated and bureaucratic. We’re going to clean house — and President Trump’s going to lead the way.”
The administration is following through with its vow to put Americanism over globalism.
