ABC News on Thursday reported the military carried out follow-up strikes on Venezuelan drug boat passengers after they were seen salvaging drugs and contacting other entities, blowing up Democrats’ claims the secondary strikes were war crimes.
“According to a source familiar with the incident, the two survivors climbed back onto the boat after the initial strike,” reported ABC News Martha Raddatz. They were believed to be potentially in communication with [other boats in the vicinity] and salvaging some of the drugs.”

“Because of that, it was determined they were still in the fight and valid targets. A JAG officer was also giving legal advice,” Raddatz told ABC World News Tonight host David Muir, adding that the video would be key in testimony to Congress from Navy Adm. Frank “Mitch” Bradley on Thursday.
Raddatz’s report comes as Democrats have attempted to claim Secretary of War Pete Hegseth should be tried for war crimes over the double-tap strike, which they say violated the Geneva Convention.
